Charlie Marotta is one of Northeastern Ohio's premier developers and builders of estate homes and luxury residences. As president and owner of Marotta Companies, he directs a group of businesses active in real estate acquisition, development, construction and investment, with concerns throughout Northeastern Ohio and Southern Florida. Marotta's most recent projects include the design, construction and sale of custom estate homes in a single development in Russell township, and the redevelopment of an historic Hunting Valley property along the Chagrin River. This project converted a turn-of-the century horse and hound stable compound into exceptional living accommodation with an emphasis on preserving the original structure's architectural design and style with land conservation surrounding the residences.
As a 28-year resident of Hunting Valley the town's Clerk of Council, and former Trustee of the Chagrin River Land Conservancy, Marotta has a strong personal interest in the preservation and enrichment of the Chagrin River area and community. This interest is central to the real estate practice he has built over the past decade and a driving force behind the some 350 acres of land and over $85 million Marotta Companies has invested in and developed in recent years.
Prior to starting his own business, Marotta was Director and Executive Vice President of Bedford Heights-based North American Systems, Inc., the exclusive manufacturer, marketer and distributor of Mr. Coffee products. While with North American Systems, he oversaw sales and marketing operations as well as engineering and new product development for the $200 million appliance manufacturer. After nearly 10-years with the company, Marotta was instrumental in configuring and negotiating the successful sale of the company in 1987 on Wall Street to a Boston, MA LBO firm.
Marotta is also one of Cleveland's most dedicated advocates for the promotion of quality education. He is currently a Director and Executive Committee Member of the Cleveland Clinic, Lerner Research Institute in Cleveland, OH. Marotta is the former Chief Executive Officer of Aspire Learning Corporation, a web-based application service provider that integrates technology with education. He spent 10 years as a trustee and advisor for the Marotta Montessori Schools of Cleveland, a group of five early childhood education centers serving the low-income neighborhoods of Cleveland. Marotta was also a member of the board of trustees of both Laurel School for girls, 9 years, in Shaker Heights and Notre Dame College for women in South Euclid for 17 years.
Marotta graduated from University School in 1974 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York in 1978.
